ANTIPHLOGISTINE

ANODYNE

OSMOTIC
HYGROSCOPIC

ANTISEPTIC

NON-POISONOUS

NON-IRRITATING

IS THE UP-TO-DATE POULTICE

AND SURGICAL DRESSING

Warm, then spread about the thickness of a silver dollar on the skin over the inflamed part and cover with cotton or heavy cloth. In from 12 to 36 hours it will peel off nicely, like the peel from a banana.

Antiphlogistine's greatest mission is accomplished through its hygroscopic power, its ability to favorably affect the circulation wherever it is abnormal.

In pneumonia, pleurisy, peritonitis and inflammation of other internal organs, Antiphlogistine, applied liberally and hot, hugs the skin closely, and the desired heat is uniformly maintained for from 24 to 36 hours, while at the same time the watery part of the blood is being brought to the surface, thus relieving the deep-seated congestion, consequently the pressure and pain.

Antiphlogistine rapidly draws out or absorbs the liquid exudate from boils, felons, erysipelas, inflamed glands, leg ulcers, and other localized inflammations, relieves the pain and permits the restoration of the circulation.

Upon receipt of 25c. (to pay expressage) from any practicing physician who has not received a sample, a 1-lb sample can, with literature, will be sent free.

THE BEST ANTISEPTIC

FOR BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL USE.

LISTERINE

Formula.-Listerine is the essential antiseptic constituent of Thyme, Eucalyptus, Baptisia, Gaultheria and Mentha Arvensis, in combination. Each fluid drachm also contains two grains of refined and purified Benzo-boracic Acid. Dose.-Internally: One teaspoonful three or more times a day (as indicated),

either full strength or diluted, as necessary for varied conditions.

LISTERINE is a well-proven antiseptic agent-an antizymotic-especially adapted to internal use, and to make and maintain surgical cleanliness-asepsis—in the treatment of all parts of the human body, whether by spray, irrigation, atomization or simple local application, and therefore characterized by its particular adaptability to

the field of

PREVENTIVE MEDICINE-INDIVIDUAL PROPHYLAXIS.

Physicians interested in LISTERINE will please send us their address, and receive by return mail our new and complete pamphlet of 36 quarto pages, embodying: A TABULATED EXHIBIT of the action of LISTERINE upon inert Laboratory Compounds FULL AND EXHAUSTIVE REPORTS and Clinical observations from all sources, confirming the utility of LISTERINE as a General Antiseptic for both internal and external use; and particularly MICROSCOPIC OBSERVATIONS, showing the comparative value and availability of various antiseptics in the treatment of Diseases of the Oral Cavity, by W. D. MILLER, A. B., PH. D., D. D. S., Professor of Operative and Clinical Dentistry, University of Berlin, from whose deductions LISTERINE appears to be the most acceptable prophylactic for the care and preservation of the teeth.

GLANCE at the achievements of nature's laboratory to accomplish the process of digestion will convince us that the attempt

to artificially digest food is presumptuous.

Imagine an artificial compound to fulfill the

requirements of the digestive juices, containing ptyalin to convert the starches into glucose; pepsin and hydrochloric acid to convert the proteids or albumens into peptones; the pancreatic juice with its wonderful constituents of trypsin, amylopsin, steapsin and emulsin for the conversion of fats and oils, etc. Even if chemistry were so far advanced that we could synthetically build up such a compound, accurate in every detail, and that each constituent would maintain its identity until called upon for its particular duty, we still doubt whether it would be advisable to supply this deficiency rather than to encourage the glands to furnish this want themselves. To re-start the flow of digestive fluids seems of paramount importance in the treatment of chronic dyspeptics. R. H. NORMAN, M. B., B. S., L. R. C. P., in this regard says: "In chronic dyspepsia, where the chemical changes upon the food taken are very deficient, SENG gives me the happiest results."
